Review on ๐Ÿ“ป USA SSB 12/24V CB Radio - President McKinley by Justin Woolley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is a good modern CB radio.

I bought this CB to replace my trusted Cobra 29 and have ssb capabilities. What I like: Compact size Ready to use. No need for peaking and tuning VSW calibration Mic channel switching Ability to set power right out of the box Scan function Weather Things I don't like: Pressing the mic button to make some adjustments No high frequency gain control. I have found that you need to set the microphone gain to around 80% or else the transmission will be distorted. Setup is very easy with SWR tone calibration. Don't expect tons of power, but the radio just works. I've talked about barefoot DX, but you won't get much attention unless conditions are in your favor or you add some power. The radio has excellent "ears" for a mobile radio. The only thing missing from my 29th are the RF boost controls. Sometimes you want it to be open, sometimes you just want to hear the other side of the freeway, and squelch alone won't work, and the combination of gain and squelch and the ability to make adjustments easily. A feature I still use. The fence around is an automatic noise reduction control. It's not quite perfect yet. Sometimes it works too well and sometimes not enough. In general, I like the radio very much and I am satisfied with its work. I would like to give 4.5 stars as that reflects more of my opinion. The negatives do not violate the agreement, I hope they will be corrected in future versions.

Pros
  • Portable AV
Cons
  • Cable shorter than others
