Review on πŸ” Top-quality PETG Filament: Optimal Additive Manufacturing Products by Josh Chenier

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good value for money

It arrived on time from Revain, the filament came in a box wrapped in a sealed pouch with a desiccant in the middle. It was evident that the spool was not like my previous lines as its spool was narrower than I had seen before, only 60mm wide. I removed about 12 inches of material, took a few micron measurements, and found that it actually averaged 1.75mm. The thread bent and when bent it kept that shape, it broke easily when bent back and forth but didn't break. I put the spool in my filament dryer at 50C for 6 hours while typing to ensure moisture wasn't an issue. Then I printed the first layer calibration pattern, i.e. 175mm x 175mm x 0.2mm, on my Prusa MK3s+, 0.4, 240Β°C nozzle, with a bed temperature of 75Β°C. It was an exceptional print, very transparent. After that I made a 3D bench, an infinity cube and various other prints. I also tried some experiments, I'm by no means a scientist but when I tried to burn the filament it caught fire but was easily extinguished. and dripping plastic that hardened. It has proven very chemically resistant to some of my more aggressive solvents. Although it did not appear to react with acetone or d-limonene, it appeared to lose some of its color and become sticky when tetrahydrofuran and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) were placed on it, confirming that it is a PET derivative. The cyanoacrylate was able to fuse the two parts together. As each print was finished, I checked for filament buildup on the heater block and nozzle, as PETG is known for its ability to bleed through. While some did, it's easy to remove with a brass brush. I would suggest a silicone sock if available for your printer. Overall I'm happy with the results and would recommend this filament to anyone looking to get into PET-G printing. Happy printing!
