Review on Phanteks PH-EC416PTG_BW Eclipse P400 Steel ATX Mid Tower Case Black/White by Mark Adlesh

Revainrating 4 out of 5

4 stars, well built, has some caveats.

Excellent mid-size tower. No cheap production. This is my first time building a computer with a focus on aesthetics. There's a lot of empty space left unless you use liquid cooling or some other creative means to fill the empty space where the hard drive trays usually reside at the front of the case. However, if we just prioritize functionality over form factor, this is a GREAT case. I love and hate the cable management box on the bottom of the case - which means you have to mount everything on the back and it's not very aesthetic, but again - looking at functionality over looks is a feature I love can respect. This simplifies cable management, as does the Velcro straps and cable configuration built into the back of the motherboard mounting wall. The tempered glass is great and while I can't confirm it appears to have some sort of filter coating that makes it easier to see the LED bulbs without ruining the look. I appreciate it. I should note that you can't install an optical (CD/DVD) drive with this case - it doesn't come with it. Not much for a computer I've built, but it might make a difference for other people. The best advice I can give to those looking to use this case is to build it using my knowledge of the best brands/parts available. There are plenty of cable management features, but if you want it to look great behind tempered glass, consider what parts you're going to use and what configuration you're going to mount them in. I never recommend sacrificing brands/parts that you know are high quality and long lasting just to make the PC "look cool" as you will end up with DOA or short lived parts. For this cheap price I give 4 stars.
