Review on Bodum Grinder Electronic Continuously Adjustable by Brad Blake

Stuck on first use

I am disappointed and sad that this Bodum grinder did not work. I bought the same model from Revain in February 2011. I've used it at least once a week, every week for 6 years with no problems whatever coffee I put in it. Of course, I had to clean it about once a month, but no more than taking out the stone grinder, tapping it a few times to remove the debris, and rubbing it with a brush. Then I moved and gave this Bodum to my sister. She still has it; She doesn't use it much, but it still works. Although I've read some reviews about coffee getting stuck in Bodum lately, I still ordered the white one because I've had a lot of experience with my old one in the past. The first time I used it, I filled the funnel with Starbucks Breakfast Blend. I set it to filter coffee, which is the 4th setting from the right for me, and turned it on. Half of this amount was used and the coffee grounds drawer was full. I emptied the grounds can and then restarted the grinder to finish loading. That's when I noticed the beans weren't moving as much anymore. After the cycle was over I pulled out the funnel and the coffee was poured out. When I pulled the burr out and cleaned the case, my entire counter and floor was covered in coffee. I cleaned it the way I used to clean my old Bodum and tried again. Again the beans didn't budge. Upon closer inspection, I found that the coffee was stuck in the box. I tried squeezing out the ground coffee with paperclips and chopsticks, but it got stuck. I will not listen if someone tells me that I am using the wrong type of coffee in this or any other coffee grinder. A coffee grinder either grinds coffee or it doesn't. But this one isn't.

Pros
