Review on FOOKER Composite Mountain High Strength Bikesflat by Drake Burroughs

15 years on Shimano clipless pedals and an immediate switch to them

15 years of riding exclusively without clips on rough terrain. I love how without clamps I can use my hamstrings to pull the pedals up with an LED while I'm pedaling down with my other foot. hp Also, I can remove the cleat from a clipless pedal just as quickly as removing a shoe from a flat pedal. So why change? I bought another mountain bike to train outside in bed weather. It came with great flat/shod pedals so I rode with them. Liked the flat platform. Also very good control. So I thought I'd order a few for my excellent mountain bike and give it a try. I chose these Fookers because they are essentially RaceFace Chesters and because they had many reviews averaging 4.5 stars. When they arrived the NEXT DAY (love you Revane) I opened the box and said "Wow!". They look like anodized aluminum, are a great weight and look very, very good. Tier 1 quality, fer sher. So I took off my SPDs and installed these fuckers and took them off the road for a 4 1/2 hour evaluation. Let me just say this: Yesterday I skied the most intimidating slope of my life, a slope I would never ski without clips. Lots of steep descents, lots of quick shifts, wet trails and zero mistakes on these pedals. If you ride without clips, especially on a mountain bike, be glad and buy them. You will love them instantly, and I mean INSTANTLY. Then take them to your favorite trails and get to work. You'll feel sick the next morning. My quads were sore from underactive hamstrings and my upper/back chest was a little sore. The chest pains were probably due to the extra 1 1/2 hours I got in the saddle (WTB Rocket - all day comfort) and the quads ached from having to use more of them to make up for the missing clamps my bike ride was using my hamstrings. But it's cool. My quads adapt quickly and you will love the control. My feet never slipped off the pedal, not once. And when I needed to pedal quickly, the power could be applied instantly because you didn't have to look for a clamp to grab the cleat. All you have to do is put your foot on the pedal and boom! you have ignition That's it - great pedal from Fooker, great transition and top quality, comes with spare bolts and washer. The installation took about 60 seconds, removing the old one and installing the new one. Add 30 seconds to the threads with some lube and you get about three minutes of total work :) I tightened each bolt a little with something like a 2mm or 3mm allen wrench. Everything was snug, but I wanted a bit more snug +. I love pedals guys. Note - buy MTB needle bearings. Most pedals sold here have spherical bearings (ball bearings). Needle roller bearings have a longer service life and offer better service overall. Jerry DavisOP Schnabel - The Dark Side
