Review on Tannus Armour Tubeless Tire Insert for Enhanced Rim Protection, No Pinch Flats & Vibration Damping | Improved Handling | Only 150g | Easy Installation by Brian Olson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Not entirely impossible, but definitely difficult to install. Although it drives nice.

It definitely took some convincing to mount the tire. Not as easy as it looks in the installation video. The guy in the video must have been using 3.0 plus tires or something. The last 12 inches was a bitch. I have wide rims, 35mm internal, and I see that this is not possible with narrow rims and a 2.1 or 2.3 tire. I needed all 3 tire levers and some clips to insert. I hope I'm never blown away like it says on the box and it's good that it's a brand new tire (maybe it's harder too) so it should be around for a while before I have to deal with it again . In any case, the pearl was easier to install as my regular bike pump took care of it and didn't require a compressor. The video doesn't tell you, but line up the valve with the notch. Ride on horseback. Try armoring on the rear tire as I have a dent in the rim and still have to use tubes. I recommend putting the tire on the supercharger until you hear "POP". First inflated with just a pump as suggested, still holding up ok but leaking enough that it's completely flat after about 3 days. Removed the tire from the rim to add more sealant. Poured sealant through the valve stem for the first time. There may not be enough sealant that passed through the channels and got stuck between the tire armor and the rim, and not enough between the armor and the tire to seal the bead. Again, the tire is compressed so that the bead is in the center of the rim, where a little extra room makes it much easier to place the bead. Holds air much better. No need to inflate before riding.

Pros
  • Tubes
Cons
  • Slightly cracked
