Review on πŸ”ͺ High-Quality HQMaster 3 175mm 1 Flute Cutting Tungsten: Precision Tool for Superior Results by Jimmy Jefferson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

REVISED II: Good product, a little understanding goes a long way

Edit: So apparently I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. My previous reviews did not account for the leverage caused by operating a 25mm router at the same brutal speeds and feeds as a 17mm bit. Essentially this means there is a lot more leverage which means a lot more stress from the same feeds and speeds that wouldn't affect a 17mm router. I threw these bits down to about the same length as 17mm (about 18mm instead of 26-27mm) to ensure durability, testing is ongoing. It's still a lot quieter than the dual blade option, and if you don't want to upset your neighbors, use these bits. Simply slow down if you're using it to replace a 17mm cutter and need the extra length, or change the cutter to the same length as your 17mm cutters. After some tests with an old Shapeco, I revise my review. If you do light to medium CNC woodworking these bits are amazing. They're completely silent to the point where you won't hear a beat through the router. However, the lifespan is not impressive. In less than 20 hours I survived 5 of these beats, one of which was death in the cradle, which could not avoid work. If they survive, the life of the bit will be significantly shorter than that of the double-edged bit, although it doesn't rattle, produces wood shavings instead of fine dust, etc. I'm about to change the bit, which took about 5 hours of continuous reducing while I probably watched for 40 or more hours on a dual blade while burning the beats. Pros: + Absolutely silent at demanding feeds and speeds + Good initial performance + High strength + Good finish + Produces chips rather than powder at demanding feeds and speeds + Longer drill bit for better deep-cutting performance and chip evacuation CONS: - Short deaths in the manger Do I get more of this? no doubt. But the disappointment is that if I'm still on bit 1 or 2 of a dual 17mm blade this will likely happen within the next week.
