quality for the price? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

I live about 4000 feet above sea level and the first thing I noticed when I opened the lid of my diesel can was that a lot of air was coming out of the can. That's good because it's obviously sealed and leak-proof. The second thing I noticed, however, was the pungent smell of wet enamel paint coming from inside the container. For the amount this product is worth I would expect it to be dried in some sort of oven or compressed air by the manufacturer. Second, the nose tuck clip is flimsy and flimsy, also evidenced by the fact that it was zipped on for shipping. A small bump in the road may cause the spout to fall when the bin is attached to the vehicle. It seems to fit securely in the tank opening to actually drain the fuel. Eventually, when the spout is collapsed, it interferes with the easy carrying of the container, which appears to be a design flaw. I'm not saying it's cheap. Overall quality looks decent, but is it worth paying four or five times as much for a similar Chinese-made canister? I'm honestly not sure. I was planning to buy two of these, but now I think I could buy one of the Chinese models instead. I truly believe that manufacturers who expect us to pay a higher price for a product should justify that investment. It doesn't have to be that the interior paint has to dry before it can be filled. It must be designed to store various parts safely and not be uncomfortable to carry. I know that all of my concerns with this product are pretty minor, but the bottom line is that it's really worth the high price point for the first time. Here are a few notes: 1) It's hard when it's full. I have to climb a small ladder to fill the generator tank, so you'll notice the added weight of the metal can compared to the plastic cans I've used. I wanted a sturdier metal container to store diesel fuel, so I have to lift the extra weight (it keeps me in shape, no need for a gym membership where I live), but something that became immediately apparent is that you're for This jar can use some sort of handle on the back like many plastic containers. 2) The EPA approved spout mechanism works very well. I benefit immeasurably from the fact that I can turn the canister upside down and drop it onto the rim of the generator tank without fear of spilling fuel. I actually bought an EPA-free spout just in case it was too difficult to use. I've used other EPA grommets in the past which were a real problem and spill more fuel than non-compliant, but the Wavian design eliminates those problems and works as intended. Kudos to Wavian, and in this case possibly even the EPA. I'm tempted to give this product another star just because the spout works so well, but I'm struggling to get over the previously mentioned issues. Maybe if I'm happy to use it a year later I'll give it four stars. out. Luckily it didn't hit the tank and the filler still works, although now there are no chips on the flange that rests on the rim of the gas tank and opens the flow of fuel. I think I could add a metal washer to the flange to strengthen it and prevent further braking, but really? Do I have to repair the product at this price in the first few months? Conclusion: This is definitely a three star product, if any. Didn't leak even when full. It's metal but not galvanized (which can clog the fuel system) and the tank seems well built to last. I'll probably buy another one because of the leaky Chinese canister reviews, but I don't think its quality comes close to matching its price. This is just another example of the modern consumer's dilemma trying to find quality products when almost all manufacturers are obsessed with just one thing - maximizing profits. ****** 2nd update ***** Downgraded to two stars. Both plastic tubes keep breaking and splintering, causing small pieces of plastic to end up in my fuel tank. That's ridiculous! I was definitely wrong when I said the EPA-approved spout worked well β€” it did until it started falling apart within the first two weeks of use. I am so disappointed in this product. For the exorbitant price that the company charges, you might think that the spouts are not of cheap quality. I'll try to fit some kind of metal washer flange over the plastic so maybe I can keep using it.
