You have a good point. In fact, they're so sharp they come with caps. Don't throw them away, they not only protect the tip but also the people around them. (e.g. digging them out of a toolbox is like hand washing a sink full of knives. Dangerous) I bought them for two reasons, one being that they have a thin point. I've been trying to measure the voltage of 20V Dewalt batteries and the big spikes just don't fit in the small passages. Second, I have several Harbor Freight Meters that you can get for free with a coupon and the leads just eventually drop off for no apparent reason. Unfortunately, they do not fit in the port freight meter. They will work if you force them, but it's difficult and probably not worth it. I can get a better measure and see if they are suitable for the occasions when I need a needle point.
