Solution for 2012 Scion tC (Hatchback)

I recently bought a bike and wanted to take it to local trails that I have to ride to gain access. I went to REI to buy a bike rack for my car, a 2012 Scion tC which is a hatchback and also has a rear spoiler. I was told there was nothing in my car to mount a bike rack and that I could opt for a roof rack or something like a trailer mount on my car, but both options were very expensive. I got home, did a little research myself and found that this rack would fit my car because it was attached with a ratchet strap system. I had to purchase glass hooks separately to replace the top hooks (because the hooks didn't work with the hatchback), but this rack worked for me. I spent about an hour and a half installing the rack on my car, but once the straps are adjusted it doesn't take long before I reinstall this rack at a later date. I bought straps to keep my bike's tires and pedals from shifting - I just wanted to make sure my car didn't get scratched in transit and that the bike didn't get deflated. In addition, the rack comes with a long strap that can be wrapped around the bike and the rack to prevent air from getting between your lower back and the rack. Although I was nervous about putting a roof rack on my car, I just got home from a 2 hour drive to the beach and had no trouble driving or driving. The only reason I gave it 4 stars out of 5 is that it uses a lot of straps to secure the bike.
