I've been a professional photographer since 1976, so I've used a lot of big lenses. When it comes to clarity and build quality, nothing beats a prime lens. This is a large telephoto lens with a focal length of 300mm. I use it for photographing wildlife. I have a Pentax 200mm f/2.8 lens, it's a gem. The 300mm lens is just as sharp but gives me more coverage for a light weight and small size. The build quality of professional Pentax lenses is second to none. This has excellent image quality. The lens barrel is durable and designed for intensive use. Not only are the optics sharp, I don't see any color fringing when shooting bare branches or metal objects, even when paired with Pentax's 1.4x rear teleconverter. This lens on my Pentax KP body is larger than any other lens when I'm shooting white-tailed deer. I've even used it to photograph wild turkeys and larger waterfowl with excellent results.
