Excellent lens fits lenses

Excellent lens that far outperforms comparable low cost lenses and compares to much more expensive Nikon, Sony and Canon lenses. The construction and durability are second to none, and while they add weight to the lens, it is not obtrusive and the lens with camera body is easily handheld. A tripod is useful for shooting from a greater distance and with greater clarity. With an APS-C image sensor, this lens delivers a 450mm-equivalent focal length, which can be further extended if desired with…

Cleanest lens in the range

I've been a professional photographer since 1976, so I've used a lot of big lenses. When it comes to clarity and build quality, nothing beats a prime lens. This is a large telephoto lens with a focal length of 300mm. I use it for photographing wildlife. I have a Pentax 200mm f/2.8 lens, it's a gem. The 300mm lens is just as sharp but gives me more coverage for a light weight and small size. The build quality of professional Pentax lenses is second to none. This has excellent image quality. The…

Air shows - everything that needs a good range

Yes, this lens is big, but for a 300mm lens it's not too heavy. And it's self-contained - the focus moves internally, so the length doesn't change. Can be used as a handheld for wildlife, sporting events, air shows and anywhere good range is required. (Although I'd bring a tripod/monopod if I manage to use one!) But for the added benefit to the photographer in these situations, it's also fast (f4) and a fast, almost silent, built-in auto mode. - Focus Motor Images are sharp even wide open, and…

Fantastic telephoto Telephoto - excellent IQ

This is the best telephoto I have ever used. The build quality is excellent and the image quality is mind-blowing. Truly outstanding sharpness, contrast, color reproduction, with virtually no chromatic aberrations and purple fringing. Juicy bokeh. Very fast and almost silent autofocus (I thought the autofocus broke when I first used this lens! I'm so used to the hum of the screw-driven autofocus in the Pentax range). Fast and precise autofocus. I'm really impressed with all aspects of the IQ of
