Excellent lens that far outperforms comparable low cost lenses and compares to much more expensive Nikon, Sony and Canon lenses. The construction and durability are second to none, and while they add weight to the lens, it is not obtrusive and the lens with camera body is easily handheld. A tripod is useful for shooting from a greater distance and with greater clarity. With an APS-C image sensor, this lens delivers a 450mm-equivalent focal length, which can be further extended if desired with Pentax's 1.4x HD teleconverter. For most wildlife shots, however, the 450mm lens is fine, and as a primary lens, the focus and bokeh are better than long-range telephoto lenses.
