Review on Bushnell Spectator 4x30mm Extra-Wide Compact Binoculars - Perfect Viewing Experience for Sports or Stage Events, with 900' FOV! by Jennifer Brogdon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good value for opera visits

Everyone would understand these optical ratings better if the reviewers mentioned whether they wear glasses or contact lenses. The rating of optical devices depends on whether the reviewer is looking through a different set of lenses. If you wear glasses, please advise their strength in dioptres and whether there is correction for astigmatism or a cylindrical shape. Please indicate whether you wear bifocal or trifocal glasses and the strength of the reading areas. Overall I think these Bushnell Xtra-Wide 4x30 binoculars offer good value for money. I use them to watch operas. On a recent trip these binoculars worked well. I saw six opera performances, in three different opera houses, at different distances from the stage. It was a 3,000 mile trip and these Bushnell binoculars seemed pretty solid. They have withstood packing and unpacking, as well as vibration and shock during a car trip. Of course, I didn't do any intentional drop or impact testing! They also passed the summer heat test, packed in a parked car. The physical size and weight of these binoculars was not an issue for me, although some may find the size impractical as these Bushnell goggles are significantly larger than traditional opera binoculars. But they are light enough to be easily carried with an umbrella and a water bottle. (It was a long, hot summer trip.) The 4x magnification is slightly stronger than traditional 3x opera glasses. However, the field of view is much wider than traditional smaller opera glasses. The additional zoom did not make the picture even more unstable, i.e. more shaky or shaky. I prefer these Bushnells to regular opera glasses. Since these "containers" are larger than average, I was concerned that opera houses might suspect that these Bushnells are binoculars for digital cameras and object to their use. But nobody said anything. Ushers asked people to remove all cameras. Photography is FORBIDDEN. (Here are examples of camera binoculars and camcorder binoculars: BinoCatch 4x28 digital binoculars with built-in Bushnell ImageView 10x25 VGA digital camera/camcorder Celestron VistaPix 8x32 digital camera binoculars 3.1 megapixel binoculars/digital camera with LCD display (champagne gold)) Only one flaw . These Bushnell "bunkers" have no focus adjustment. I wear lineless stepless bifocals that range from minus 2.5 diopters for distance to zero diopters for reading, with a tiny adjustment for astigmatism. I found that I could achieve perfect focus by inserting these Bushnell baskets in the right place in my lenses. If you wear lined monofocus, bifocal or trifocal glasses, these Bushnell binoculars may not be for you. Your results may not be satisfactory depending on prescription power and lens design.
