update; I'm so glad I read all the reviews and one person recommended not going beyond merv8 unless you know your system is rated for a thicker filter as most HVAC systems are not rated for resistance are that a thicker filter can provide. on topic. As soon as I started using merv8 I noticed a difference in airflow, your system works harder and I can't imagine I would have put merv14 instead. I could have broken my HVAC system without the advice of another reviewer. It's always good to read reviews and I'm so glad someone was smart enough to provide this information. They work but get dented (not bad but they happen as other reviews have noted) upon delivery.
