The thread was about 1.65 inches in diameter. I have corrected this in the printer code. I had issues with filament getting stuck in the nozzle, but it turns out the previous PLA was stuck there. It is recommended to use a new nozzle or make sure you have removed any previous threads that are harder than TPU. It took a while to get the printer set up properly, but no one said printing with flexible filament was easy. As soon as I felt like it, the production of medical material to fight COVID-19 started. So thank you! It does what I need. The material is perfect for what I need and the medics are very happy with the materials I can print. The only drawback is that the coil is very large and does not fit directly into the direct drive of my Creality Ender 3 Pro. So I rewound the thread onto a smaller spool.
