I've been wearing these 100 micron socks for 6 years now. I change my socks every 5-8 days. It filters out very fine solids, which are most noticeable immediately after vacuuming the bottom gravel. My tank is a very healthy 100 gallon "sea" and fish tank. The use of filter socks is discussed again and again. I believe that reducing the amount of solid waste in the water column only makes sense because the decomposition of these materials creates toxins that poison the environment of a closed aquarium. I recommend Aquatic Experts filter socks in the 100 micron version. Socks last three years if they are thoroughly cleaned after each use and bleached from time to time.
