Review on 🔪 Rotary Circle Cutter by OLFA by Morgan Gilmore

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Takes practice

I bought an Olfa rotary cutter, a set of 2 extra blades and a 6x8 green mat. Bought to cut out valentines printed on matte photo paper. Here is my review. This cutter works very well after you have a little practice. When I first got it, I was very upset and wanted to throw it away. The circles just didn't come out with smooth edges. All the edges were jagged, and I tore the center of the circle with a swiveling needle. I decided to calm down and show some patience. Here's how I did it: 1. Put the needle in the center of the hole. 2. Place the cutting blade on the edge of the circle, press down and make sure it penetrates the paper. You will hear it cut through the paper (it shouldn't be on thinner paper) 3. Then simply rotate all the paper and the mat instead of the cutter itself. Hold the knife steady and firm.4. The result is over a hundred perfectly cut 2-inch round valentines in under half an hour—something you probably won't achieve with scissors. My wife can make it as advertised using just one hand and turning the cutter back and forth and around until the circle is cut. But like I said, it takes practice and you'll find what works for you. Ps - if your cutting circles are already printed and you don't have a mark on the dead center of the circle, you need a radius size on the cutter itself that's slightly smaller than the true radius on the printed circles. So when you cut, you end up sacrificing the outside edges of your printed circles. It's just a thin stripe that you'll lose, but it's better than using the true radius of your printed circles and then getting a label that contains white background paper. Try to imagine what I'm talking about. Good luck roundabouts!
