Since ammonia is the first indicator of a potential problem in your tank, you need to check it regularly. You also need to check for nitrites since ammonia breaks down into nitrites as part of the nitrogen cycle in your tank. But I've never come across multi-test strips that also contain ammonia, so I use them in conjunction with a multi-test strip kit.
