The indicator square falls off the paper strip very easily.

Accuracy - pretty much matches my ammonia monitor. Easy to read - the color is crisp but half the time the square indicator falls off the paper strip and I have to look for it in the aquarium. Ease of use - no. See "Easily Readable." Even before I used the strip, the square fell off.

Pros
  • Brilliantly done
Cons
  • Something is wrong

Quick and easy Good for fish and aquatic animals

The main benefit of these strips is how quick they are to use. In the past I have preferred API test kit results when starting my fish farm, but these are now more commonly used for the occasional quick check. Established aquariums maintained by a knowledgeable, diligent, and experienced fish farmer simply don't need constant testing. You'll know when something might be wrong and these strips are perfect for that rare quick spot check.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Some bugs

Mandatory test kit!

Since ammonia is the first indicator of a potential problem in your tank, you need to check it regularly. You also need to check for nitrites since ammonia breaks down into nitrites as part of the nitrogen cycle in your tank. But I've never come across multi-test strips that also contain ammonia, so I use them in conjunction with a multi-test strip kit. Whenever strange things happen with these two parameters, I use the MASTER Kit API to diagnose.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Hard to say

Nitrite isn't exactly

I've been using the API master test to test the water and because it takes too long (I have to do it almost every day) I'd like to switch to something simpler is, that's why I got this stamp. The basic API test kit shows nitrite as zero, but this stick shows pink (at least 1ppm). With a water test kit it reads every 0.25ppm and that jump goes from 0 to 1ppm. I assume the main test set will give more accurate results than the stick. Not sure if it is contaminated with nitrates as they are too…

Simple, reliable test for fish and aquatic animals

I have had problems with ammonia emissions in some of my tanks that have had no fish for a while, after I put the fish in those tanks they immediately became distressed which was tough on the fish. After running this test, I can make sure the aquariums are stable before adding any fish. The test is very accurate, but I only check if the test is yellow, which corresponds to 0 ppm ammonia. Another reason I love this test is that it is very easy to use, no mixing, no test solution bottles, just…

Pros
  • I look forward to
Cons
  • The list is long.

Don't waste your time. This is incorrect.

I bought these hoping to have a quick and easy way to check the ammonia levels whilst driving my tanks. One went off cycle and still had fish in it. They don't absorb water very well. It's like there's film on the strip to prevent that. At first I only used them to the detriment of half my fish. RIP little friends. So I bought an API master test kit. Began to do tests with drops. I realized Holy Moly, ammonia is through the roof! I focus on a tank with no fish and add 4 parts per million…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank
