Review on πŸ”₯ WTB ThickSlick Comp: High-performance Tire for Ultimate Durability and Traction by Jose Brunson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If you have an indoor trainer, you should buy this tire.

Can only be considered for indoor use, so I can't comment on puncture resistance or even durability. But for indoor use this is the best tire I have ever used. I actually have a second wheel and cassette so I can use this tire indoors. I have an office in the basement that I share with my wife when we work from home and although it's a fairly large basement with a couple of doors between her space and mine, the noise bothered her while cycling indoors. That was a problem because I like to get on my indoor bike at least once a day when I have a short break, so it can't always be after work. It was the worst when I had the MTB on the trainer. It was converted to a hybrid with much softer tires a while ago, but the noise was still terrible. Even my racing bike with the Conti GP 5000TL was louder than she would have liked. But this tire eliminated almost all wheel/tire noise. The howl of the engine (magnetic resistance trainer) persists, but is pretty well muffled by the doors and isn't nearly as annoying as it used to be. As for me, I can actually hear what the trainers are saying on iFit and I can hear the audio from Zwift as well as the TV I have. Add to that a very reasonable price and this is a winner. As for changing wheels, get something like the KMC Missing Link and it's pretty easy. My bike chain actually came with a SRAM link but I didn't know so I have two links in the chain. Oops. So look for it if you go this route.

Pros
  • With no frills, the sleek design offers optimal traction on rough roads, while the robust carcass provides the protection you need in the concrete jungle.
Cons
