The hole is damn awesome! I have traditional 250 micron cloth filter socks that can be cleaned with PITA. You ring, use hot water, ring again, press. it's just forever. Then enter these filters. I decided to put this filter in a cloth sock just to make sure it would work. The first time I went to clean them, I took them out of the pan, flipped them over, rinsed them with water for 30 seconds and that was it! No, I'm not joking. I've been using them for a few weeks now and they're super easy to clean every time. Haven't used them alone yet (they are used in my traditional filter sock) but they catch enough to make cleaning the traditional sock much easier. They clog and overflow in my 90 gallon tank (not heavily loaded but a heck of a ton of hair algae) in about 3 days. Will definitely buy more and recommend you try them. I was nervous that 50 microns is too small, but so far it hasn't been a big issue for me. My water flow is not very high. So if you have a high turnover you may need 100 microns. If you have a sump that fits 2-3 socks side by side, I would definitely go for 50. Great product!
