Best thing I have ever used, highly recommended!

For a long time I chose a replacement for my "old man" C2D E8400. I looked at the FX 8230 - the presence of eight almost full-fledged physical cores was captivating, but the gluttony of up to 200W in load, the need for excellent cooling and a fairly expensive motherboard with a serious processor power subsystem reduced the expediency of buying "to nothing" . I was very limited in funds, but I wanted to take the most technologically advanced product for the least money. On some forum, I accidentally stumbled upon a mention of the Intel Xeon E3-1230V2. It turned out that this is a cheaper analogue of the "promoted" Intel Core i7-3770, only with a slightly lower frequency, disabled by the built-in gift that I don't need video and a lower TDP. Availability Hyper-Threading technology is an undoubted advantage of this model. Since it has a TDP of 69W, I decided to limit myself to a boxed cooler in order to save money, but in the summer I will most likely replace it with something more efficient. I chose the Gigabyte GA-P75-D3 motherboard for it ( rev. 1.0) for only 70 USD Honestly, I didn’t expect such power: in order to load it with work for the sake of experiment, I had to run Xilisoft Video Converter at the same time to encode five films from MKV to AVI, ranging in size from four to twenty gigabytes at the same time . When starting one movie, the download was no more than 25% for all eight streams. The hard drive, by the way, is a regular 500Gb HDD. In games, FPS more than doubled and became much smoother: I didn’t even expect how strongly constrains the C2D E8400 GTX560 graphics card.

Pros
  • Very powerful, cool compared to competitors, yet relatively affordable, does not require an expensive motherboard.
Cons
  • Not!
