The original that came with my kayak failed after about a year. I just screwed it on and that was it as the kayak was already laid out. I love this product. Note: This takes longer if you pay attention to the differences in the sounds. Avoid walking in heavily weedy areas and move around when algae builds up around the boat to prevent clogging and possible engine burnout.
