Fantastic tool. It's square, at least as much as you'd expect from a square plastic case. Also has some weight, the blade is 1/8" thick and 1.5" wide. The angle graduation allows it to be used as a rough protractor for common building angles, and because it's a square you can check spirit level and plumb with just a spirit level in the case. The gradations are engraved in black, not printed, so they should not rub off. Comments on some of the best reviews: - There is a review about strange dimples on the body. I ordered 2, neither one nor the other. - There is a comment about finding the center of a circle with a trial square. It's not really a square trial, it's a combination of a trial and an angle. The number 45 on the case means you can mark the number 45 or check the cut at an angle. It also has markings for 22.5 degrees, although this can be a bit tricky to use. Of the two I received, one has wear marks on the plastic case and the other doesn't. Both are pretty flat. (It's no place for machinists.) I think it just proves that a quality control process is being followed and I'm pleased to see that they have an established tolerance for what they produce.
