We recently adopted twin kittens from a litter that were abandoned on their birthday. Our groomer groomed (and bottle fed) the litters until they were ready and she sells natural animal products in her shop. She got me addicted to raw food and pine pellet cat litter. But the cost of feeding two growing kittens raw food became an issue. I found the Feline Nutrition website which has a great raw cat food recipe. The recipe is fantastic, but the grinder they recommended was it. Well, we could never spend that much money on pet food. I didn't have much hope that we would find a 1hp meat grinder that could process chicken thigh bones, but reading the reviews it seemed like it could be. I received my device on Friday, bought the chicken and other ingredients, and spent Saturday learning the entire process. It was my first time so it was a long day but I learned so much! I am pleased to report that this meat grinder has performed very well. He chewed the bones but left white plaque on the joints in the drill. I didn't know what to expect in terms of noise level, but it wasn't too bad. The components are very easy to install, very easy to clean and I love that the cable and discs fit in the compartment on the back of the unit. The instructions for use were fine, but I was confused by the directions for using vegetable oil. before first use. It does not specify where to apply the vegetable oil. I applied oil to components that seemed logical to me - those that were available to me. I had no problems. I don't think it's worth deducting points for that. I would also like to thank the seller for their decision to cancel my first order. At first I was afraid that they would only increase the price. Not so! Apparently the unit was damaged at the point of delivery and they canceled the order and asked me to backorder if I still want the item. The price was the same when I reordered and I received very fast delivery. I'm so thankful I didn't get a broken block and I have 12 pounds of chicken thighs laying around waiting for the grinder to work. I will be doing this food production routine once a month and will update this review if anything changes to make me less positive. At the moment I'm very happy to have found an affordable alternative to the expensive product recommended by the Feline Nutrition website.
