I got these pliers from the Vine program. As you can see from the photos there is a spring inside that keeps the jaws open - I don't like that feature and have the sprocket for the clutch docked to it. If you remove a clamp that's fairly easy to reach, that's fine, it's no big deal. However, if you're lying on top of the engine trying to get at the clamp between it and the firewall in an awkward spot, the spring makes this tool more annoying than anything else. In addition, at least at Toyota, the jaws are too thin and slip from time to time. It's more noticeable when you're struggling to find a good angle in tight spaces while overcoming the fact that the grips are further apart than your grip can handle. Build quality is good, it's definitely durable enough to take any type of abuse it's designed to take. The cast metal has some rough edges but is functionally solid. The handles are covered in a standard plastid coating that makes cleaning easy (and somewhat non-slip). It's definitely a nice addition to any mechanic's arsenal, but not a must-have.
