Review on πŸ”Œ Enhanced Motorcraft YH-1715 Blower Motor Resistor by Doug Taylor

Exactly what the doctor ordered (so far!)

Nothing beats a factory replacement part! In 20 minutes I was able to fix the missing number 1 and 2 fans on my Ford Escape 2102. Worth every penny. UPDATE 11/20/2020 - I wrote in last year's review that the factory replacement is worth every penny. I was wrong. Just ordered another one after the first one I replaced burned out (no settings #1 & 2). Factory parts aren't cheap so I was hoping for a permanent solution when I replaced them last year. I only served with him for about a year. These resistors seem to get very hot when the fan is in use no matter what speed it is set to. I discovered this the hard way when installing a new one and testing it outside of the box it came in. After parking the truck I went to have it installed and it was very hot! I think the problem is that with use they get very hot and burn out the circuit board and then the fan speeds stop working. I believe Ford's answer to this was to place these resistors close to the fan itself so the air can cool it enough that they don't burn out. Guess Ford again! Please check! I ended up buying $25 resistors and then had to struggle to remove the wire harness connector (which I broke during this install this time) leading to the resistor head. My mechanic has always recommended buying factory spares whenever possible even for the smallest elements because it makes a difference, but not with these resistors. It's time to try the aftermarket as I have a feeling I'll be coming back to it in the future. Not recommended.
