I have deer that love to eat the plants in my area. After years of using the spray on wildlife repellent products, I found I could protect my plants with a physical barrier. I drive six foot wooden stakes at 6 to 8 foot intervals around the yard that I protect. Then I take black wine and wrap the pillars with it, moving from one pillar to another. I place the tallest strand of yarn about 4 inches from the top of the post. Then I run another strand of yarn about 18 inches below the top strand. Honey, feel the line, go to another section and feel for more line. After a few tries they leave. My gardens have not been touched by deer in the last 6 years. I remove the stakes in the fall and rearrange them as needed in the spring. The black string doesn't catch people's eyes when looking at my flowers, so I see it as a win-win.
