For this price I would expect better

First, most NiteRider products lack battery life. I have this taillight, scaled down model, and headlight, and they inevitably seem to go out long before I think they should. I did a century with this thing the other day at low power (continuously) for 9 hours and it died somewhere around the 7 hour mark. I have a much cheaper disc taillight that I use consistently and it lasts a lot longer. Now I carry both with me - this one has better visibility but if it fails - which it will - I have the other one as a backup. USB port. After a few weeks of use this connector doesn't seem to fit anymore so I've found that I blew dirt out of this connection. While this hasn't happened yet, I'm concerned that sand or moisture will affect charging and ultimately make charging impossible. It hasn't happened yet, it's just a fear, but the design is imperfect - I'd much rather have a 'cap' or something that snaps or pulls over the lip with a force closure to keep dirt and moisture out than one Cork lazily leaning on the pressure on the sides of the plastic slit. A couple of times I thought the plug was plugged in, but after the 9 mile ride home I realized the plug was loose and debris got into the charging port. These changes are not difficult to make!

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Legacy model
