Not sure how to feel

I opened the hay box and noticed what looked like a ball of fur or maybe mold ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ But upon closer inspection I saw that it was a dead rodent was mutilated in the hay. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ I don't know if this is normal or can be, but it's a bit embarrassing ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Very poor quality for small animals

I have been using Oxbow Orchard Grass hay for my guinea pigs for a very long time and love it. I was tired of buying it every week so I decided to buy in bulk. This hay is so dry and looks dead. Most looks black. It's so hard and crunchy, not soft and green like I always got when I bought the little packets. I'm so disappointed I'm now stuck with 50 pounds of crappy hay.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Does not fit all

It used to be great. No more

A few weeks ago I opened my third box. The first two were great - very soft weed, fragrant. It's terrible. The whole thing is full of stems that are damn hard. It is very viscous, as if the pieces are tangled together. I have to tear off the pieces vigorously with both hands to give them to the guinea pigs. Several recent reviews say the same thing. I am so disappointed. I really liked the first two and I don't know if I will continue to buy them.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Updates available

Much less sneezing than timothy hay

I've heard that garden grass is a lot less of a concern than timothy hay for people with nasal allergies. I've only endured a runny nose over the years we've had guinea pigs, but eventually decided to make the switch to garden weed. It's been a few months and I think it's true. Garden grass is less irritating in terms of allergies and much milder than the sometimes prickly timothy grass. Cons: No timothy seeds, which we used to find and feed to pigs as a tasty snack. There is garden grass. only

long grass. The pigs love it.

Great Weed! My pigs love it! I think they love it as much as hay or even more! So far these have been long chunks with very little of those choppy little things. I will buy it again if the quality stays the same. ********** UPDATE ********** This is my second box. I am very disappointed that this grass box is very dry and yellow. My last box was green and scented. I hope the pigs are still enjoying it, but I have a feeling we're going to be in trouble! Also, I don't usually have problems, butโ€ฆ

NO more, always with Petco

I should have read LATEST REVIEWS It's not fresh, it has seeds (flowers) It's drier than a year old Timothy Hay box stored at 35% humidity. I know Timothy Hay and I know Garden Grass. We have all been bottle feeding for many years. Conversion to orchard grass as a pleasure grass. Many years ago I was a regular Petco customer. The staff and clerks knew me. One day after training I came to buy a small item and I was $1 short. I asked her if I could pay next time. When I say regularly, I mean aโ€ฆ

Inconsistency - rabbits won't eat later deliveries

Had to throw away 2 batches of this hay! My first large subscription box was great - lush, green - my other two (which were unopened, still in their two boxes and sealed in plastic in our dry garage) were terrible when we opened them a few months later. Half of the weed in these two batches was pale green, the other half yellowed - and all very tough. I didn't think it would make a difference but then my rabbits won't eat any new food in a week. Luckily we supplement with pellets but I wasโ€ฆ

NO garden hay and NO REFUND! Don't buy if you really need garden hay!

I ordered this after getting Oxbow Orchard Grass brand timothy hay from another website (where I had ordered it for a while as it was much cheaper). I am allergic to hay but severely allergic to timothy grass. So I ordered Oxbow Orchard Hay from a third party through Revain and Timothy again! Hay from the garden has many stalks and seeds and smells different. One of my guinea pigs has bits of stalk in his throat all the time, so sometimes he wheezes all day, poor thing. This is clearly an Oxbow

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
