This is an incredible labor of love on the part of the author and it is very kind of him to share his work for our enrichment and enjoyment. The intricate patterns of the carpets that the author has chosen for reproduction are carefully painted, and he carefully notes any minor color changes or subtle changes in detail. Needless to say, charts are easy to follow. (I use them for something other than embroidery.) Also, the descriptions of the rugs the designs come from, the meaning of some design elements, the regions where they were made, and the stylistic differences between regions were really well written. and interesting, so it was like a crash course in oriental rugs. Charming.
