I am renovating an old cottage with an 8ft x 12ft covered porch. The porch ceiling has certainly seen better days, and the layers of paint didn't peel off well. Scratching revealed a worn surface beneath the paint, but the wood was still in good condition. I used these tiles to cover the ceiling. They held pretty well with glue but I used industrial grade glue to hold them in place. They fit very well and have a shiny wooden finish. They aren't very thick and I would doubt how long they would last in a high traffic area but what do I need them for because they are perfect. A big improvement without the mess of painting! UPDATE: I am dismayed to find tiles further in the packaging with dirty fingerprints and tiles whose white surface has peeled off leaving the black background clearly visible. One tile had a peeling stain nearly two inches long! For this reason I am reducing my rating to 2 stars. Luckily I can fix the imperfections with paint due to the application, but if they were on the floor that wouldn't be an option. Bad quality control. UPDATE: I have to say I have ordered more of these tiles to complete my project. It looks like the flaws mentioned above were limited to a box of tiles. But the ridges and fingerprints were fairly consistent throughout the box. I'm increasing to 4 stars because they fit the project. Again, I wouldn't recommend them for floors.
