Review on πŸ“ž Panasonic High Contrast Cordless Phone with Call Block - 1 Handset - KX-TGD510B (Black) by Alexis Leonard

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent phone apart from a few minor flaws

This is a cheap but nice phone with a brown backlit keyboard and a light blue LCD screen where you can read information. There is no answering machine, but if the call is missed, this is indicated on the screen. You can use the CID button (I assume this means Caller ID) to scroll through the different phone numbers that called. One of the most unique features of this phone is the 'Call Barring' feature. Someone calls you and you don't want to hear it anymore, press the call barring button. This probably won't save you from various scammers as they learned how to mask your phone number with various fake phone numbers including your area code. However, it can be helpful if you keep getting phone calls from an unwanted person or company. This brings me to one of the problems. A blocked number still rings once before it is blocked. On the one hand, one is pleased that the call was blocked. But I would prefer not to be warned at all that someone was calling. This may be related to the VOIP phone service I use and regular landlines may not have this issue. Edit: According to Panasonic, the first call is due to the phone getting the caller ID. Luckily this can be turned off (page 16 of the manual), but this will turn off the first ring of all incoming calls. Another small issue is that if the phone doesn't light up, it can be difficult to properly plug the phone into the jack. The plug doesn't indicate where it is, so placing the handset back on the charger is a problem in a darkened room. As for battery life, let's just say my aunt loves to chat, but even after I broke down and kicked her out after an hour and a half of conversation, the phone still has plenty of life. If you forgot your phone somewhere, there is a Find Phone button on the connector. The phone is equipped with rechargeable Panasonic AAA NI-MH batteries, which can be easily replaced if necessary.
