First, there is a slot in the bottom of the connector that should match the protrusion for connecting the coil. You are central. My connectors on a 2006 330xi are misaligned so they won't fit. I cut out the spool tabs so they can fit. Second, one of the coils was defective, which is confusing when attempting to fix the problem as the motor ran exactly the same with the coils newly installed.
