This ink is expensive. Actually not as many as you might think as this set contains 12 - 12 refill cartridges for Canon's amazing professional printers. And the amount of ink in each cartridge is much larger than many other printers. So in a sense this ink is *technically* not as expensive as it sounds (i.e. cost per ml). But it's also true that when you print to a professional 12-ink printer, it's ONE thing. will cost a tidy sum. Combine that with the oversized photos you can print on a professional printer (which uses more ink due to the number of square inches on each sheet of paper) and better quality paper that's approaching the $2/page point: OH! But these Canon inks really work when used with the best Canon paper or Breathing Colors paper (or their canvases). The sheer quality of the ink, the intensity of the colors, the estimated lifespan and the way it is applied to paper (especially metallic paper) really shows the character of this ink. There are some things we can save on, but when it comes to printing medium to large images of our best photos, Canon leads the way (in both ink and paper). The actual rating is TWELVE stars (one for each color of ink in the box) but there is no doubt that this is a five star product.
