Your mileage may vary but I would not recommend this product. I tried spraying the primer directly onto the primer without painting it. When I removed the tape there was a lot of adhesive left and it was incredibly difficult if not impossible to remove. I would have had satisfactory results using only blue or green masking tape. The edges would be no less sharp. For me it was a waste of time and money. This can work if you're putting a backing over the existing paint and clear coat, but don't tape that stuff to the primer, at least not unless you've already added a layer of regular tape to stick that tape on top of.
