Yes, we needed a super tough dog toy for our terrier. Yes, she prefers soft dog toys. But we made the mistake of allowing her to chew on it without active play, and she managed to rip away at the cloth on the head, and rip out that poor octopus' stuffing for brains. We were able to return it, and when we called and talked to a customer service rep at Tuffy, she informed us that these toys (as is stated on their website) are for active, supervised play, not just for mindless and incessant chewing. We now have the mega ring (loving it) and only use it for tugging and fetch, then it gets put away until next time. In retrospect, excellent fun and tough toy but only when used properly.
