Our two huskies can't have normal toys because they just absolutely destroy them. We buy Tuffy toys regularly - they tend to last about 6-8 months, which is pretty amazing for our dogs. The regular-sized octopus is their absolute favorite one, so we though we'd try out the giant one. Sadly, it only lasted about four days. It just didn't seem to be made as well as others we've bought.

The toy has a squeaker in the top that has a low sound like a duck call that they love. The arms have higher pitched squeakers that don't sound off much. The dogs tend to play with this one by themselves and it's a hardy toy. We've had it over a month and no signs of stuffing showing yet. My dogs, Dutch Shepherds, love love love this toy. They could not stop playing with it for weeks. I was careful for a while to not let them chew on it. However, they have powerful jaws and are very strong dogs, so the legs starting coming off and the fabric ripped within days. The toy was completely mutilated within two weeks. I have two crazy full size Labs that absolutely love this thing. It has already passed the two month mark so it's well worth the money in my book. We got this octopus toy for our 40lb boxer/ border collie/ palmation mix. She loves carrying it around by one of the legs. She did manage to get it open and pull the stuffing out after about a week. This is to be expected with our dog as she is an aggressive chewer, so overall we would describe that as a pretty hearty toy. I purchased this based on other reviews. I figured the head would not last and it didn't. In 5 minutes the tab on the top was off and I had stuffing coming out. In half an hour there was no stuffing left and half the top was gone. I was sure the feet would last a bit longer. No so. While I love this toy, I have to give it only three stars as my 15 month old Australian Shepard was able to tear apart the octopus' head and start removing the stuffing in about 10 minutes! The arms are still in tact and he loves chasing and jumping on it and chewing it, but if your dog is really good at destroying toys quickly, be forwarned!

My dog loves this toy, but he was able to rip out the stuffing from the body in 10 minutes. Even without the stuffing, he still enjoys playing with it. Just keep in mind that my dog has not met a toy he couldn't destroy, and the fact that there is any part of this toy left after 9 months says a lot for this product.

I really do love this toy, but my dogs found a weakness in the center between all the legs. I just sewed it back up with fishing line and it seems to be holding up. This toy takes a beating while my lab mix and boxer mix use it as tug o war toy. Even for aggressive chewers this toy holds up well.

My dog goes through toys like no ones business. We purched a few of the Tuffy's Creatures in a variaty of shapes and this one has held up the best even though it had a lower "tough scale rating" than the others. A couple of the legs have opened but we just pulled out the stuffing in them. The Tuffy toys hold up better than others but if your dog is a chewer or very rough they will distory these too it just might take them a few days longer.

This octopus is actually a "quint-opus" as it only has 5 arms. I like it better than the dogs do :( I have to buy the Tuffy Extreme (Level 10) so they don't chew it up and pull out the fluff. But then it's so heavy and dense they don't really enjoy playing with it. A bigger dog might -- ours are miniature poodles. In general they love Tuffy toys, so I'm sad they don't like this one. Think I'm going to have to break down and buy another Shark.

The legs are great our dog hasn't yet gotten into them. The head is the flaw. He was into the head within the day. If only it had the legs on both sides and no head.

These are usually awesome, but this had a little tag on the top, for no discernable reason. Of COURSE, that is exactly where my dog ripped the head, so started digging stuffing out. Expensive for about 30 minutes to rip into it.

I've tried. 4 different TUFFY's rating 5 to 10. This is a 10, the 'Mega'. It lasted 1.5 week with a 3yr old German Shepherd. She's having a blast with them, but it's not good enough.

We have a strong chewer. For a while we thought we had found the perfect toy. It was large enough for him (boxer/german shepherd mix over 60 lbs) but he has a thing with tags and strings. Once he found a loose string he had the stuffing pulled out. Had he not loved it so much though the string would not have been loose. :-(
