Great quality and value!

I went to California for a short time to care for my elderly parents. Which turned out to be tedious, and since I still had left my homemade 4ft high reflux/potty at home, I decided to buy this cute little item to pass the time. I can say that I am impressed with the cost of the device and the value received. While it's still NOT reflux, it still gets the job done if you know what you're doing in the first place. It's a two-column design like the reflux condensers, but there's no cooling water in the primary column, so I seriously doubt you can get a 180-degree sample in one pass. Other than that, that fact didn't bother me, and the extra time for the second pass is worth the money I saved on the purchase. I spent over $900 on a DIY block, but this one will do the same with just a few hours of your time. So the pluses are: Stainless Steel ✔ Gasket ✔ Copper ✔ Tension Bands ✔ Lead Free ✔ Extra Goodies ✔ Cool Looks ✔ Now for the cons; Reading "HI" around 200 degrees Fahrenheit. While it didn't break the deal for me, I was a bit disappointed because it would have been nice to know the temp down to at least 212 so I knew when to stop picking. My solution; Buy and install a new thermometer. Next comes a fairly short wine/alcohol pipe. When the clear tube is placed on the copper shaft it is too close to the wall of the pot, so when using a propane torch the heat rising up the wall of the pot will heat the clear tube to the point where it may melt. My solution; Purchase 18-inch copper tubing and a ferrule to increase copper output farther from the heat source. Just. That's all! I can't say any more bad things about this wonderful, inexpensive and well-made still. If you are a beginner, please read and learn all you can, and if possible learn from someone who knows what they are doing! I can't stress this enough. And for goodness sake, always throw away heads! I have attached a short video of the initial cleaning. For your health!
