I recently bought two bare Noctua fans for a rebuild as all the cables, adapters etc that come with the full fan kit are thus unnecessary Pads had to be purchased separately. There is nothing wrong with the product and they came boxed like most Noctua products (you know they do that to give the impression that the product is of a higher quality and justify the higher price, right? ). In my opinion, those rubber pads are critical to the low noise we've come to expect from these fans, and while I have a drawer full of extra Noctua cables, stands, and adapters that I'll never use, I always use standoffs and think they will even "should be delivered bare" fans as a key component to making the product work. And if not in the kit, then $7 for several rubber pads? It's not a lot of money, but if they ship it in a plain plastic bag, they might they might save some money and sell it to us for $3.95.
