This kit used 1/4-20 threads tapped into a broken shank, leaving little leeway to not get the tap perfectly straight. The M6 thread was perhaps the best choice to keep a little more of the existing stem in. They also protrude longer than the original and can cause breakage problems when scraping the curb. A small tube of thread sealant leaked and made a mess, and what little remained hardened; I used a 5 minute epoxy because I had that on hand and figured if repairs were ever needed again the entire TPMS sensor/stem would still need to be replaced. I really wish they were a little shorter. The reason I needed this was because someone put brass caps on an aluminum rod and the electrolysis in between dissolved the thin aluminum rod. I suggest using plastic valve stem caps; No one will really notice the difference and you may not need this kit.
