Review on 🍞 Oster Expressbake 2-lb. Breadmaker, White/Ivory - Enhanced Capacity, Increased Versatility by Jason Rogness

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A simple bread maker that makes great easy buns.

I use it once a week on average. It replaces an old Oster that was over 10 years old which I took as a brand recommendation. It's significantly cheaper than the old one - lighter overall and with a much thinner pan, and the kneading motor sounds like it's trying hard (but does its job well). I bake a few different but simple breads - one with raisins added during rising. I am very happy with the results. Note: For raisin bread, I add them gradually once the second kneading/kneading starts and don't wait another 5+ minutes for the beeps; I've found that they don't mix well with the batter when I wait for the beeps and they don't rub because I add them early. However, the spatula lost its non-stick properties after just a few months. Initially, it just slipped out of the bread when the bread was demoulded, or came out very easily when left in the bread. Now (6 months old) it seems to have almost no non-stick quality - see photos. It doesn't appear to have lost its surface finish. It has never been washed or processed, just sponge washed as recommended. The same issue applies to the nubs on the bottom of the pan, although that's not really an issue in terms of bread extraction or ease of use. UPDATE: Customer service is second to none; everything was exchanged without problems. I upgraded the product to 5 stars on the assumption that I had a one time problem and will change it again in the future if the problem comes back.
