I have had every Motorola bluetooth headset since HX500, HX550, HX600, Boom1, Boom2 and now HK255. Every year they get worse. The HX series were good for the most part, sounded great, had volume control and great noise cancellation and the earbud fit comfortably in the ear, a plastic earhook was optional on all of these models as the gel insert fitted. snug and secure in your ear without the plastic hook. I could walk with them and Bluetooth would stay secure without the plastic hook. Each of the HX models has lasted me well over a year before the latch broke or the unit simply failed. The 35-40 dollars I paid for it absolute value. Then comes Boom and especially Boom 2 and the Flip breaks within two weeks. I bought a replacement thinking I had a bad block. I have owned the Boom 2 for 3 months and have broken 3 pieces of the flap. This is entirely due to the position of the flip. On previous HX models, the flip cover rested against the body of the earcup when closed. Arm 2 has the speaker sticking up at almost a 45-degree angle. If you accidentally press it against the body of the headset, you'll break the flap (it happened the first time). If you get a call and take the Bluetooth out of your pocket and the flap gets stuck on the edge of the pocket, break the flap (this happened the second time). If the flap breaks, the device becomes unusable. Now the HK255 is completely done with the flip, that's the only plus of this device. It uses a physical switch that you flick with your thumb. when you put it on. Unfortunately, everything else is worse, starting with the earpiece. They changed the piece of gel they used on all other models. Now it doesn't stay in your ear, you MUST use a plastic earhook. The plastic hook has the same problems as the ears that stick out on the shaft 2. It gets caught on objects in the bag and breaks easily. Worse still, the Bluetooth is harder to insert into the ear! You have to fiddle with the earhook to get it in your ear. Without an earhook, it doesn't sit securely in the ear like all previous models. Also, there is no volume +/- button, there is a button, which toggles between three settings. Here are the settings: Well, if there's no background noise, whisper mode is useless. In addition, the sound quality (on every level) is a far cry from that of the HX series. Tinny and muted.
