I am happy with this speed clip. The plastic is strong enough. It easily attaches to a belt, up to 1.5 inches. No longer. It basically stays on the belt when the tape measure is pulled out. It simply accepts a spring clip on a tape measure. The keeper will work with a standard short pencil, such as a typical #2 octagon pencil. Will not work with flat carpenter's pencils. This is not a defect, just pointed out. Golf pencils work great or a little longer. A brand new full-size pencil wobbles and still gets in the way. I thought a sharpener would be useless, but then - surprise! "I've used it more than I expected. In the end I found it best to use them throughout my workshop. There are already two holes in the belt loop for this. Now I usually keep a tape measure handy and all tape measures are mostly easy to find on these speed clips. It's amazing how many roulettes you end up with just so you can grab one without looking back. Much better to use Speed Clips everywhere. I hope honesty helps. All the best.
