PROBLEM: Let me start by saying that this pump seems to be very common in different brands of Whirlpool family dishwashers. Depending on the frequency of use, the dishwasher stops the water circulation within one to two years. The machine fills, empties and dries, but does not wash dishes. The first sign of a symptom can be an intermittent problem, indicating a controller malfunction. In our case, this was not the cause of the problem. The reason is the failure of the bearing bushes (bushings) of the engine. The two bushings that hold the rotor (the part with the impeller attached circulates the water) are centered in the housing assembly, but due to a design flaw the bushing does not hold securely in place over time, resulting in excessive rotor vibration. how it turns in the bushings. Excessive vibration will cause the rotor shaft to elongate the hub holes, causing the rotor to be off-center. If the rotor is no longer centered, it touches the housing wall and no longer rotates during further operation. SOLUTION: Obvious warranty repair solution, I suspect this pump is common on various makes and models of hot tubs. Dishwasher. I have Whirlpool WDT780SAEM1, this pump should not be compatible with my unit. This is most likely the case as the top of the pump (the black part with the inlet and outlet hose fittings) can vary in size and fit different dishwasher models. However, if you turn the black top part a quarter turn, the top part will separate from the pump body. I believe the pump body is the same for different models. It was the same with my unit. The replacement job is easy. By pulling the unit out from under the cabinet and turning it on its side, exposing the bottom (raise the bottom so any remaining water runs down the top of the unit instead of dripping onto the bottom). Disconnect the motor electrical connector. Pull the motor housing at a slight angle until it disengages from the sub-assembly. Then turn the pump body a quarter turn to loosen it from the black cover with the connection of the inlet and outlet pipes. Install a new pump housing and repeat the reassembly steps in reverse order. CONCLUSION: Since the replacement pump is the same design as the original pump, I suspect the bushings will fail within the same time and level of use as the original part. If you buy this pump for around $60, you're paying around $160 for the entire assembly, not to mention the extra labor required to replace it. There is a guy on youtube who replaced the bushings with bearings, this may well extend the life of the pump.
