Review on Spigen Gearlock Out Front Bike Phone Mount: The Ultimate Universal Bike Phone Holder for Smartphones by Michael Cox

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Only good for casual riders

So I bought 2 of these earlier this summer (one for each of the 2 bikes I have). I bought the Spigen phone case separately and didn't use the adhesive mounts. Their design was not very durable. The first one broke within 1 month of use as the clamping part of the bracket is held in place by a small screw. This bolt loosened over time and although I tightened it several times it failed on a long ride. Luckily the case is of good quality so at least my phone was ok. The second lasted a couple of months as it was used much less frequently, but after hitting a pothole and giving it a decent nudge, the prongs on the mount clip simply clicked and released the phone at speed. Luckily the case was able to protect the phone but it was on the bridge and could have done a lot worse in many ways. Unfortunately, I can no longer trust this attachment system to work reliably with my phone. I had better luck with the Tigra Mountcase System. It might have been better for the casual rider, but given the downside of the post, I probably wouldn't recommend it for that either.
