Adhesion to the machine is strong, but not to the applicator.
Glue sticks slip out of applicator before dent can be removed. The adhesive then sticks to the car and to remove it I use the plastic spatula that came with it, then heat it up with a hair dryer and rub it down with alcohol to avoid damaging the clear coat.
