Review on Cabinet Hardware Jig Punch Locator - Drill Guide Adjustable Inch & Metric Scales, Aluminum Alloy With Φ5Mm Drilling Hole, Tool Cabinet With Drill Bit And Hand Marking Tool by Alan Pfeiffer

Good basic hardware jig

This jig was good for some basic home use. All in all not bad for the price. It does a good job at aligning but due to the materials used I wouldn't recommend using it professional or for very precise work. For occasional use it should be fine.Top Position:The top vertical positioner is has a metal ruler with plastic trim. While rigid is slightly flexible as is the whole unit in general. The set screw bear down on plastic which will deform and eventually will develop memory indentions of previous work. The top piece is bit flexible and can flex a bit when using on drawers with rounded edges. In general this isn't going to be a problem if you use it a few times.Side Positions:The horizontal positioner is a thin metal "ruler" This does have a good bit of flex as well which may bean issue however if you have shaker drawers with an inset.Durability:The horizontal spacer is subject to being bent since it is a single layer of thin metal. It should be fine if handled well but could get damaged easily if in a tool bag.Final thought:This jig will work and works fine for most home use, it just isn't made to be used professionally or long term.

Cons
  • The hand marking tool may not leave a clear enough impression on the surface, leading to mistakes
