The instructions are terrible. Here's what you need to know:

After installing the battery, pull the shutter button to turn it on. Press the Mode button (if necessary) until MAX appears on the display. Press T/DN to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit. Press UP to turn on the backlight. Hold the trigger and press the triangle * to turn the laser on or off. When measuring temperature with an IR thermometer, each material has different reflective properties that need to be adjusted to get an accurate reading. This is the emissivity. Look at the table in the guide for the basic emissivities for different materials or look at the line. To set the emissivity, with the device powered on, press the E key to toggle between editing and non-editing. Adjust with UP or DN button. Hope this helps someone. It took me about an hour to figure it out. The instructions don't help. All in all it seems to be a very good device once that hurdle is cleared.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
